A genuine piece of automotive racing history!
When in the early eighties, the FIA decided to replace Group 1 and Group 2 with Group N and Group A, most important car manufacturers jumped onto the train of Group A. Well known cars as the BMW 635 CSi, Volvo 240 Turbo, Jaguar XJS and Rover with it's V8-powered Vitesse battled for victories on European circuits.
Tom Walkinshaw Racing was appointed by Britisch Leyland to prepare the family saloon Rover SD1 to Group A spec.

This particular car, chassis TWR-004, was the 4th racing car, built in 1983 and campaigned during the season in BSCC and ETCC by Jeff Allam, Peter Lovett and Steve Soper in blue 'Sanyo'-livery. In 1984 the car was driven by Tony Pond in BSCC.
The car achieved several podiums and three overall victories.
At the end of the 1984 season, the car was sold to R.A. Potter Racing from Australia, where it was redecorated in white, with 'Mobil'-livery. The car competed in the Bathurst 1000 Race and ended 1st in its class.
From 1987 TWR-004 came back to UK and was succesfully driven in a white and red 'Castrol'-livery in BTCC by David Carvell and Jeff Allam.
In 1988 the car participated in ETCC at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, this time in a dark blue and yellow colour scheme, with 'Eurodefi'-livery.
TWR-004 was completely restored in 2022 and is ready to be raced in all Heritage Touring car races around the globe. The car comes with a 10y valid FIA HTP.
