With the introduction of the Pininfarina-styled 550 Maranello in 1997, Ferrari returned to its tradition of building front-engined V12 sports cars, resurrecting a line that had remained dormant since the demise of the 365 GTB/4 'Daytona' in 1974.
For optimum balance in a front-engined sports car the use of a transaxle transmission is a must, so the 550 Maranello came with a six speed manual gearbox placed in the rear.
This very nice example was newly delivered to a German enthusiast. In 2020 it was sold to Austria, in 2023 it was acquired by a Belgian collector.
This 550 Maranello is very well maintained during its lifetime, with a fully Ferrari-stamped maintenance booklet. The car recently received a comprehensive service, including a gearbox overhaul and the replacement of all sticky parts in the interior.
